PU (IMME), proudly contributed in the "ChemStudio" at the Surpriseum of Lahore Science Mela 2025

The Khwarizmi Science Society (KSS), Pakistan, proudly presented the 6th edition of the annual Lahore Science Mela (LSM 2025), a grand celebration of science, creativity, and innovation. The much-anticipated festival was held on 25 and 26 October 2025 at Crescent Model Higher Secondary School (Boys Campus), Shadman, Lahore. Building on the success of LSM 2023, which captivated thousands of visitors, this year’s edition proved to be even more dynamic and engaging. The event brought together scientists, students, educators, and families to come together in the spirit of discovery — to learn, explore, and celebrate the power of science.

This year, the team from the Institute of Metallurgy & Materials Engineering (IMME), Faculty of Chemical and Materials, University of the Punjab, proudly contributed in the “ChemStudio” at the Surpriseum of Lahore Science Mela 2025. Under the mentorship of Dr. Ameeq Farooq (Assistant Professor, IMME), the team presented more than 26 interactive demonstrations highlighting the wonders of chemistry, materials science, and engineering innovations. Each demonstration was designed to spark curiosity and inspire young minds through hands-on experiences, scientific explanations, and creative experiments that bridged classroom learning with real-world applications.

The demonstrations covered a wide range of fascinating phenomena like Fake Blood, Hidden Message, Bleeding Heart, Combustion reactions, Color of Copper Sulphate, Chemical Garden, Color of Fumes, Aluminum Can, Copper Electroplating, Zinc Electroplating, Electrochemical Cell, Fruit Cell, Heating and Cooling Pad, Dehydration of Sugar, Bubble Formation, Conductor, Semi-conductor and Insulator materials, Non-Newtonian Fluid, Polarization of Light, Glowing Copper Coil, Brass Layer on Copper and Fingerprint identification.
The team of science demonstrators included Hassaan Ahmed, Muhammad Muizz Ul Haq, Bisma Liaqat Javed, Ayesha Qadeer, Areej Fatima, Sadia Noor, Isha Kashif, Saba Sajid, Samreen Ata Al Rehman, Syeda Fatima Bint E Asad, Muhammad Farhan, Fasiha Rizwan, Arooj Akeel, Muhammad Ahmad Javed, Hafiz Muhammad Umar Rizwan, Muhammad Usman, Rida Fatima, Tuba Anwar, Muhammad Sabeeh Amjad, Abdul Ahad, Ibtasam Shafique, Muhammad Saad Zafar, Rabia Kanwal, Muhammad Umar, Ghulam Mehdi, Ali Muqaddus, Muhammad Saraan Ali, Muhammad Usman, Muhammad Ismail Ayyan, Fiza Khalid, Mehreen Irfan, Toowa Maryam, Anusha Ayub, Humaira Bibi, Ayesha Tariq, Muhammad Hamza Ishfaq, Sultan Mehmood, Abdul Waheed Sajid, Zobaria Saleem, Marium, Abdul Basit, Fatima Bilal, Aneesa Afzal, Muhammad Azaan, Muhammad Subhaan Farooqi, Muhammad Abu Baker Baig, Laiqa Ashfaq, Fatima Amin, Aman Ejaz, Ayesha Iqbal, Faizan Ali, Ali Musharraf, Mariyam Ijaz, Ali Haider, Bisma Akhtar, Ateeb Ahmad, Zain ul Abideen, Waleed Abdul Rehman, Hammad Ali, and Bilal Fareed.
In the closing session of LSM 2025, Dr. Ameeq Farooq thanks to Dr. Sabieh Anwar Siddiqui (KSS, Secretary), Dr. Muhammad Mustafa (KSS, Joint Secretary) and Tayyab Iftikhar Sherazi (In-charge Surpriseum, LSM 2025) for providing the IMME team the opportunity to be a part of this remarkable event. He also thanks to HydrolyzTM and Virtual Scientific Industries (VSI) for their unwavering support to make this event successful. He appreciated the energy, motivation, and dedication shown by all the demonstrators in making this event a great success. He further added that Lahore Science Mela had always been more than just an exhibition — it was a movement to rekindle scientific curiosity and deepen public appreciation for science in Pakistan. Our team was proud to contribute once again by presenting the exciting blend of chemistry and materials science.
